Year 6 Spanish Work
AUTUMN TERM
This term Year 6 have been consolidating and expanding their knowledge from last year by learning numbers to 30 and using this to ask and answer a variety of questions.
After half term we started a new topic about 'El Tiempo' (The Weather). The children enjoyed interpreting and drawing their own weather maps, then had a go at being forecasters themselves!!
SUMMER TERM
Following SATS this term, Year 6 have been remembering their Spanish skills and learning to labels pictures and put new vocabulary into sentences in order to describe work by the Spanish artist Joan Miro.
We've been practising saying the date, conducting surveys to find out children's birthdays and ages and then put all this together to respond to letters and emails and create their own party invitations.
Click on the video links below to see some of the forecasts that the children made.
LAS FORMAS
We have been recalling that in Spanish the adjective needs to come after the noun (the opposite to English) and it needs to agree with the noun. This means that for some adjectives there are up to 4 ways of saying the same thing depending on what it is describing
e.g. red = rojo/roja/rojos/rojas
Year 6 have been working hard to get it right!!
Take a look at the images to the left to see how they have been getting along.
RETRATOS (2)
Finally, since half term we have been working on our descriptive skills; asking and answering questions about our own and each others' appearances.
Year 6 have become very competent at writing short phrases from memory, applying all the grammatical and vocabulary skills learnt earlier this year and gained a lot of enjoyment from playing ¿Quién es? (Guess Who) in Spanish. Click below to see some examples of the games and activities they played, along with the descriptions they wrote about themselves.
