Vocabulary
Vocabulary is a very important part of maths teaching at our school. It is taught discreetly during NW sessions and SSM lesson. Children are encouraged to use the correct vocabulary so that they can communicate accurately about their mathematics. This is also modelled by the teacher. The children are given opportunities to explain how they know answers during lessons to help develop their reasoning skills and make connections across their maths' knowledge.
Below is a progression of new vocabulary that is introduced in each year group. The children will build on their vocabulary each year.
